Furlong, a lifelong resident and dedicated funeral director, currently serves as one of only five professionals appointed to Pennsylvania’s State Board of Funeral Directors. He emphasized his long-standing commitment to the county and highlighted how his professional background aligns with the responsibilities of the coroner’s office.

“For more than 30 years, I’ve owned and operated a funeral home right here in Jefferson County,” Furlong stated. “I believe I’m uniquely suited for the role of coroner, not only because of my hands-on experience but also due to the financial stewardship I’ve maintained throughout my career—something I intend to bring to county government in service of its taxpayers.”

Furlong is the sole proprietor of Furlong Funeral Home in Summerville. He and his wife, Cheryl, have raised three daughters and now enjoy the company of seven grandchildren.

If elected, Furlong says he will bring a comprehensive and compassionate approach to the office, supported by a trained staff, appropriate equipment, and a strong foundation of business leadership—ensuring respectful and efficient service for the residents of Jefferson County.
