COALPORT: The Coalport Area Coal Museum will officially open its 2026 season tomorrow at its new home, 825 Main Street, welcoming visitors from 1:PM–5:PM for opening day festivities and tours.

After months of preparation and relocation efforts, museum volunteers have completed the move and carefully arranged the organization’s extensive collection of coal mining memorabilia. From historical artifacts and photographs to mining equipment and archival documents, the exhibits are ready for public viewing in the new space.

“We have all our memorabilia in place, we are ready to give tours, the reference room is ready for your research needs, and opportunities for you to provide assistance are available to further our efforts to keep community history alive!” the museum announced.

According to the organization’s website, the Coalport Area Coal Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich coal mining heritage of Coalport and surrounding communities. The museum serves as both an educational destination and a research hub, offering guided tours and access to its reference room for those tracing family histories or studying regional industrial history.

A review of the museum’s guest book highlights just how meaningful visits have been over the years.

“Great + interesting museum (I love history) I’m a coal miner’s daughter,” one visitor wrote.

Another shared, “This place is awesome!!! Love volunteers.”

Others reflected on personal ties to the region’s mining legacy. “Lots of memories,” one entry reads — a simple but powerful tribute to the generations shaped by coal country life.

More recent comments continue that theme, with visitors describing the museum as “Very interesting” and “Very interesting!” — short endorsements that speak volumes about the experience.

Organizers are encouraging community members to stop by on opening day, explore the exhibits, and add their own names to the growing list of guests who have visited over the years.

“MANY THANKS to all the volunteers and community members who have helped us make this move!” the organization stated, recognizing the effort required to relocate and reopen for a new season.

With exhibits set, tours prepared, and the reference room ready for researchers, the Coalport Area Coal Museum begins its 2026 season with renewed energy at its new Main Street location.
