CLEARFIELD: Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging has released the upcoming lunch menu and activity schedule for its Centers for Active Living for the week of February 16th, offering a variety of meals, wellness programs and social opportunities for area seniors.
All meals are served with two-percent milk.
The centers will be closed Monday, February 16th, in observance of Presidents Day. No congregate meals or home-delivered hot meals will be provided that day.
On Tuesday, February 17th, the featured lunch will include sausage gravy and biscuit, hash browns and baked cinnamon apples. Wednesday’s menu offers macaroni and cheese accompanied by stewed tomatoes, lima beans, wheat bread with margarine and vanilla pudding. Thursday’s meal will feature sweet and sour meatballs served over jasmine rice with steamed peas and onions, white bread with margarine and a cookie. The week concludes Friday with breaded pollock and tartar sauce, parsley buttered potatoes, green beans, white bread with margarine and gelatin.
Clearfield Center for Active Living, located at Clearfield Presbyterian Church, 119 North Second Street, Clearfield, can be reached at (814) 765-9319. The center provides a wide range of daily activities including Nintendo Wii games, a lending library, puzzles, exercise opportunities and cable television. Cards and table games are played each afternoon following lunch.
Swimming sessions are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:AM. at the Aquatics Club at the Clearfield YMCA. Bowling takes place every Wednesday from 1:PM to 3:PM at Clearfield Bowling Lanes.
The Clearfield center will be closed Monday. On Tuesday, arthritis exercise begins at 10:AM, followed by movie day, with cards and games at 12:30 PM. Wednesday features games and information with Lindsay Hand from Life Center at 10:30 PM, followed by cards and games at 12:30 PM. Chair yoga for beginners is offered Thursday at 10:AM, bingo at 10:30 AM, and cards and games at 12:30 PM. On Friday, arthritis exercise starts at 10:AM, bingo at 11:AM, and cards and puzzles at 12:30 PM.
Coalport Center for Active Living, 1226 Main Street, Coalport, (814) 672-3574, offers exercise programs, brain aerobics, puzzles, Internet access, bingo, crafts, a lending library and a cancer support group. Lunch is served daily at noon. The center will be closed Monday. Healthy Steps in Motion will be held Tuesday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM where seniors learn how to breathe better, simple Tai Chi, and both ryhthmic and dynamic exercise. Food bags are scheduled for delivery Wednesday. Thursday brings a healthy aging seminar from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, along with games and prizes. Friday’s activities include a birthday celebration featuring pizza and cake.
Kylertown Center for Active Living, 70 Senior Drive, Kylertown, (814) 345-6338, provides puzzles, crafts, Internet service and a lending library. The center is closed Fridays. After being closed Monday, the center will host the bookmobile at 10:AM. Tuesday, followed by Seniors in Motion at 11:AM. Wednesday includes coffee and games at 10:AM and grocery bingo at 11:AM. Thursday’s schedule features coffee and Outburst at 10:AM, followed by Seniors in Motion at 11:AM.
Mahaffey Center for Active Living, 958 Market Street, Mahaffey, (814) 277-4544, operates Monday through Thursday from 8:30 PM to 1:30 PM and is closed Fridays. Programming includes exercise sessions, a walking club, musical and educational presentations, brain aerobics, bingo and crafts. The center will be closed Monday. Tuesday at 11:AM, participants can attend a meet-and-greet with Kim Neff of Hillsdale Rehabilitation and Nursing. Wednesday features Inspiration Hour with Pastor Jim at 10:AM, followed by Presidents trivia at 11:AM. On Thursday, exercise begins at 10:30 AM, with blood pressure checks offered at 11:15 AM.
Houtzdale Family Service Center, 40 Terrace Drive, Houtzdale, (814) 378-5120, provides cards, games and television for participants. Programs typically begin at 11:AM, unless otherwise noted, and afternoon bingo is a regular feature. The center is closed Fridays and Monday for the holiday. Tuesday will feature health information presented by Rachael of Community Nurses. Cornhole is planned for Wednesday, and Thursday’s program includes a smoking cessation session with Renee of Amerihealth.
