BROOKVILLE: A longtime Main Street staple is asking the community to rally behind it during what has become one of the toughest stretches of the year.
Main Street Revolution, located at 112 Main Street in Brookville, says this time of year — both last year and again this year — has brought a noticeable slowdown in sales. With tax season squeezing wallets and credit card transactions dipping to what the business describes as an “all-time low,” owners are being transparent about the challenge.
“This year and last year at this time, we really struggle to pay the bills,” the business shared publicly. “We NEED your support.”
While the message is direct, it’s also determined.
The shop is rolling out what it calls a deal “too good to pass” in an effort to boost sales and keep new inventory flowing into the store. Customers who purchase any two new records can select two used records (priced under $10 each) for free — a $20 savings.
There is one catch: the transaction must be made with a credit card. The store says there is no additional fee to do so.
And for anyone wondering — no, they’re not closing.
“We are not closing down,” the business emphasized. “Tax time has hit us kinda harder this year.”
Despite the slowdown, Main Street Revolution is still pushing forward. The shop plans to give away five items at the end of the month, and customers can enter with any purchase.
Behind the scenes, the owners say they are actively looking at purchasing new record collections to bring fresh arrivals into the store. But like many small retailers, acquiring inventory requires upfront capital — and slower sales make those deals harder to secure.
“Those that support us, thank you,” the message reads. “Never fear we are closing. It just simply won’t happen.”
For a brick-and-mortar vinyl shop in a small-town downtown, community support isn’t just appreciated — it’s essential. And if history is any indicator, Brookville has a way of showing up for its own.
