Local boxing sensation Aviana Gillaugh, the event's organizer, has already made a name for herself in the sport. She secured a fourth-place tie in the 110-pound junior female division at the USA Boxing National Championships in Lubbock, Texas, in late 2022, further establishing herself among the country's top competitors. At just 15 years old, she won the national-qualifying tournament in March 2023, earning special recognition from the DuBois City Council the same calendar year she was ranked the #1 junior ranked female at 110-pounds which earned her the opportunity to train in Chula Vista, California at the Olympic Training Center. Aviana also earned a silver medal at the Junior Olympics ending with a split-decision final that could have gone either way. She even captured a gold medal in the junior division at the U.S. International Women’s Tournament, demonstrating her prowess on a national level.

At the age of 13, she founded TURNaBOUT Boxing, a nonprofit organization based in DuBois along Rockton Road adjacent to Pfingstler Fieldhouse. "At TURNaBOUT Boxing, we believe in the power of movement to change lives. Through our various programs, which include competitive boxing, Boxfit, movement impairment, and senior wellness initiatives, we help individuals shine, find their confidence, regain their independence, and discover new opportunities. We also work to support athletes and raise funds for causes that matter--because everyone deserves a chance to rise," said Gillaugh.
