CLEARFIELD: Clearfield County Commissioners voted Monday to appoint Eugene Quick as deputy warden of operations at the Clearfield County Jail, filling a leadership vacancy that has remained open since last spring.

The Clearfield County Salary Board set Quick’s annual compensation at $60,000. The position became vacant in May when former deputy warden of operations Krisha Oates was promoted to warden.

In other business, commissioners approved an updated agreement with the Central Counties Youth Center, a regional juvenile detention facility jointly owned by Clearfield, Centre, Huntingdon, Clinton, and Mifflin counties. Under the revised contract, Clearfield County will pay a base contribution of $68,354, along with a daily rate of $667 for each day the county utilizes the facility. County Solicitor Heather Bozovich explained that the changes were necessary to reflect recent adjustments in state reimbursement policies affecting the center.

Commissioner Tim Winters, who serves on the youth center’s board, said the agreement was modified in response to those state-level funding changes.

The board also took several administrative actions during the meeting. CNB Bank, Mid Penn Bank, and First Commonwealth Bank were approved as official depositories for county funds. Commissioners also reappointed Josh Berndt to continue serving on the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Board.

In addition, a series of board appointments were made among the commissioners. Winters was named to the boards of the Central Counties Youth Center, Community Connections, and the Clearfield-Jefferson Airport Authority. Commissioner John Sobel received appointments to the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority, the Clearfield County Economic Development Authority, the Redevelopment Authority of Clearfield County, and the Clearfield-Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission. Commissioner Dave Glass was appointed to serve on the Clearfield County Conservation District Board and the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission.
