DUBOIS: Reitz Theater will present the dark comedy Deathtrap this April, a thrilling production by renowned playwright Ira Levin. The play revolves around Sidney Bruhl, a once-successful playwright now struggling to create a hit after a series of successful murder mysteries. Sidney’s former student, Clifford Anderson, has written a play of his own, and Sidney is convinced that Clifford’s work will be the next big sensation.
“The play is filled with unexpected twists and turns that will keep audiences engaged,” said Kari Trapana, the production’s director. “The biggest question is: how far will Sidney go to steal the show?”
Deathtrap made its Broadway debut at New York City’s Music Box Theatre in February 1978, and it remains Broadway’s longest-running comedic thriller. It was adapted into a 1982 film, starring Michael Caine, Christopher Reeve, and Dyan Cannon.

The cast includes Jack Donahue, Brantley Meredith, Rachel Westbrook, Shannon Gibson, and Steven Walsh. Performances will take place on April 4, 5, and 10-12 at 7 p.m., with a matinee on April 6 at 2 p.m. The production is recommended for mature audiences.
