Struble mentioned that residents of the school district who are 18 years of age or older and are registered voters are eligible to express interest in filling an open position on the school board. The opportunity will remain available until December 1, 2025. Interested individuals are required to submit a letter of interest, which must be postmarked no later than April 11. Following the committee meeting on April 21, a special voting meeting will be convened to select a new board member.

In addition to the appointment process, the district is collaborating with the election board to ensure that the vacant seat will appear on the ballot for a two-year term. This term will complete the duration that the late board member, Evans, was supposed to serve. The individual appointed to this position will also have the option to run for election to continue serving beyond the term.

Two candidates have already expressed their intentions to run for a position on the board in this year’s election. These individuals have communicated their interest to the board in recent discussions.

In a personnel update, Struble highlighted the advancement of two staff members who will be transitioning from part-time classroom assistant roles to positions within the Special Education department. Both individuals have been with the district for several years as classroom assistants. Over time, they decided to pursue teaching degrees, and the district has supported their professional development. To assist in their educational goals, the district has provided them with the opportunity to take the necessary courses for certification while continuing their employment. This approach allows them to build their careers within the district while obtaining the qualifications they need to become fully credentialed educators.
