DUBOIS: Winter may be winding down, but the season’s creative spirit is still going strong. This Thursday evening, The Avenue West in DuBois will host a hands-on winter craft workshop where participants can build a rustic wooden snowman that’s guaranteed not to melt.
The workshop invites guests to create their own approximately 18-inch-tall wooden snowman using provided materials and a wide selection of embellishments. Participants can customize their projects with pine accents, ribbons, buttons, winter florals, hearts, and other decorative elements, allowing each snowman to reflect a personal style. The event is designed for all experience levels, with no crafting background required, and is open to ages seven and up.
The cost to participate is $45 per person, which includes all supplies needed to complete the project. The event is designed to be welcoming and relaxed, encouraging creativity, conversation, and a cozy winter atmosphere.
The workshop is presented by Hammer & Stain DuBois, a local creative business owned by Denise Fialkovich. After retiring in 2023 following a 36-year career in corporate America, Fialkovich turned her passion for creativity into a hands-on business that brings people together through DIY experiences. Working alongside her daughters, she curates projects inspired by current trends and seasonal themes. Known as the driving force behind many of the business’s ideas and social media posts, she describes the work as both fulfilling and life-changing, allowing her to connect with the community while doing something she truly loves.
The event will take place at The Avenue West, located at 208 West Long Avenue in DuBois. The Avenue West has established itself as a premier local venue for celebrations and gatherings of all kinds, hosting everything from weddings and birthday parties to corporate events and community workshops. Its central location and flexible event space make it a natural fit for creative and social experiences like this winter craft night.

Organizers say the snowman workshop is an ideal outing for families, friends, or anyone looking to enjoy a creative evening while celebrating the tail end of winter. Participants will leave with a finished decoration that can be displayed year after year, long after the snow outside has disappeared.
